Cookie Policy

What this covers
This policy explains how www.obsidianarctraining.com uses cookies and similar technologies — including pixels, tags, local storage and software development kits. We refer to all of them as “cookies” below.
It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information generally.
Obsidian Arc Training Ltd, company number 17401446, registered office 14 Alum Way, Fareham, England, PO16 8RJ, is responsible for this site. Contact us at [email protected].
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. It lets the site recognise your device on a later page or a later visit. Some cookies are set by us. Some are set by other companies whose services we use — those are third-party cookies.
Cookies that expire when you close your browser are session cookies. Cookies that stay on your device until they expire or you delete them are persistent cookies.
Your choices
When you first visit the site you will see a banner. It gives you a genuine choice.
- Strictly necessary cookies are always on. They are needed to make the site work and we cannot switch them off. They do not require your consent.
- Everything else is off until you turn it on. We do not set analytics or marketing cookies before you consent, and we do not treat scrolling, continued browsing or closing the banner as consent.
- Rejecting is as easy as accepting. The banner has a “Reject all” control alongside “Accept all”, at the same level of prominence.
- You can change your mind at any time. Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.
Your choice is recorded for 6 months, after which we will ask again. If you clear your browser storage, we will ask again sooner.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and set your browser to warn you before a cookie is placed. Blocking all cookies will stop parts of this site working.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary — no consent required
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
| Consent preference cookie | Obsidian Arc Training | Remembers the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask on every page | Persistent, 6 months |
| Session and security cookies | Obsidian Arc Training / website platform | Keeps the site working, balances load, protects against cross-site request forgery and automated abuse of our forms | Session |
| Form submission cookies | HubSpot | Allows an enquiry form to be completed and submitted, and prevents the same submission being counted twice | Session and short-lived persistent |
Analytics and performance — consent required
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
| _hstc, _hssc, _hssrc, hubspotutk | HubSpot | Tells us how many people visit the site, which pages they use, how they arrived and whether the site works on their device. | Session and persistent, up to 6 months |
We use analytics to see what works, not to follow individuals around the internet. But the HubSpot analytics cookies do associate browsing activity with a contact record once you submit a form, so we ask for your consent before setting them.
A note on the law: the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 introduced a limited exception from consent for certain first-party statistical cookies. It is deliberately narrow — it does not cover technologies that identify, track or monitor an individual, and it does not cover the linking of browsing activity to a contact record. We have taken the view that our analytics configuration falls outside it. We will keep that under review as the Information Commissioner’s detailed guidance is finalised.
Marketing — consent required
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
| [To be completed — e.g. LinkedIn Insight Tag, Meta pixel, Google Ads] | [Third party] | Measuring advertising and showing our advertising to relevant audiences | [Duration] |
Third parties
Where a third party sets a cookie through our site, that company uses the information for its own purposes as well as ours. We list them above. Their own privacy and cookie notices apply, and we do not control them. Links:

Embedded content
Pages on this site may include embedded content — for example a video player or a map. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the third party’s own site and can set cookies of its own. Where we embed content, we configure it not to load until you consent, wherever the provider allows that.
Do Not Track
There is no agreed industry standard for responding to Do Not Track browser signals, and we do not currently respond to them. Use the banner and the footer link instead — those work.
Changes
We review this policy at least annually and whenever we add or remove a script from the site. The version and date at the head of the document tell you what you are reading.
